Thy Almighty Word Leapt Down from Heaven

For while all things were in quiet silence, and the night was in the midst of her course, Thy almighty Word leapt down from Heaven from Thy royal throne, as a fierce conqueror into the midst of the land of destruction

The Book of Wisdom, Chapter 18, verse 11.

Now this is Christmas for me. Thank you, Dymphna, for your beautiful blog, always dignified, yet forthright and direct. I read you often, though I don't comment on anyone's blog very much. I, too, am an academic librarian.

You mean verse 15, right?

Verse 13 is interesting:

Wisdom 18 : [13] For whereas they would not believe any thing before by reason of the enchantments, then first upon the destruction of the firstborn, they acknowledged the people to be of God.

Is of course both directed at Egyptians vs Israelites and Herodians vs Holy Family.

However, Apocalypse 13 : 18 contains the words "Here is wisdom."

Seems St John was hinting at Antichrist being abortionist (like Putin, Bergoglio and Obama all are).

The verse you quoted, will probably also be appropriate for second coming.

Confer "I come as a thief in the night" or "the Son of Man cometh like a thief in the night".

Battle of Harmageddon might give impression second coming is day time, but it seems from these verses somwhat otherwise.
