It's not looking too good, folks.

Univision did a survey among Catholics around the world and the results are not surprising.  The laity is not looking too good.

No, we're not.

I came to the conclusion that I'll do all I can do for my family, friends and co-workers by being the best possible (with God's grace) witness I can be day in and day out. Pray, fast and witness

I have no EF near me. So, I put up with the priest who changes the wording at the Agnus Dei to something he prefers, the backslapping in communion line and the lack of quiet in the pews before and after Mass. What can I do? Where can I go?

All I can do is work on my own sanctity. Prayer, penance, mortification, daily Mass when I can... Take on the example example of the friars of old.

If I spent my time lamenting the state of the laity AND priests and bishops, I would weep 24x7. So, I pray for them (and myself) and prepare for harder times to come. Putting my trust in Him who is the Lord of the Universe.

newguy40, I applaud you.

Exactly how I feel sometimes. There is naught to do but pray and work on one's own sanctity.

When I see the little old ladies fingering their rosaries and the group of men and women who pray their beads day in, day out, I wonder how our loving God would just let His Church die a simple death. Those of us who believe should be strong not only for ourselves but for those who do not believe. We'll be okay, I promise you.
