How not to treat your priest

Fr. Chad Rippenger gave a talk on lay behavior that is rude, insulting, careless and all too common in regard to the parish priest.

I am virtually certain that this is the "clericalism" Pope Francis speaks so sternly against. All through my childhood and the childhoods of my children, we had priests at our table, to share our holidays, share our summer outings, even share our vacations! NEVER have I encountered a priest as pompous and vain as this one!! Never touch a priest? Never hug a priest? Never speak in any but a very reverential way? No jokes please, Father might laugh and his face will crack! This is NOT the kind of attitude which attracts young men to the priesthood. And it is sinful to boot!

"The moral of the story is that people will be sent a bad priest if they're not being good."

Which makes me think . . .

"As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”

“Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him."
