An ancient crucifix

This was made in 970 AD.

That's one incredibly well-made crucifix. Any idea where it's currently situated?

I dunno about anyone else, but the way His cloth is tied, the knot almost looks like a tortured soul that's being carried by Christ's sacrifice.

If that's what the artist actually had in mind, that's pretty interesting.

It is in the Cologne Cathedral in Germany. There is one large replica located the United States. It's located in the chapel of the chancery building of the Jefferson City,Missouri Diocese.

I think the artist or his predecessors in iconography had seen how knots on loincloths actually looked.
