Our Lady of the Highways

When Rocky and I head north to New York we drive past the Our Lady of the Highways shrine. It's a comforting sight.

Have you ever visited it?

Our Lady of the Highways, there's another in Raymond IL: http://www.ourladyofthehighways.com/

BTW, I think "Childs" is a great name for a town. It makes mewonder how the local accent sounds pronouncing it.

We've never been able to stop. By the time you see it from I-95 you're pretty far from it. One of these days we will.

The story behind it was that it was created after a terrible accident took place on the highway at that location.

On Camino de Santiago, on many crossings of the highways (there are a few between Pamplona and Santiago, 750 km, not sure offhand what that is in miles) there are crosses, single or clustered, for pilgrims killed while trying to cross.
