St. Michael, the archangel

Yep, it's a tattoo. I found it on the Fast Squiel blog. No, I wouldn't want Rocky to get one this big but it's my favorite image of St. Michael so far. And speaking of the arch angel, did he ever undergo an long drawn out official cannonization process? Can you imagine Pope Clement, Sixtus, Linus or Cletus going, "Wait, we need a devil's advocate and time to examine his cause." Me neither.

This post reminded me of the recent "Angels with Guns" post on the "Shrine of the Holy Whapping" blog:

The Catholic tent is indeed a big one... room for all sorts.

Oremus pro invicem!

Chello!

St. Michael is my patron and I'm a US Army vet...that is a truly awesome tat I must say!

Also, I think the angels were exempted from the normal canonization process, since they're mentioned in Hily Scripture! ;)

I came across this tatoo. The image is of my nephew, Michael Monsoor, who was a Navy Seal & received the Congressional Medal of Honor, posthumously, for throwing himself on a grenade to save his fellow comrades on Sept. 29, 2006. The tat is worn by "Kauie" (nickname), a fellow Navy Seal, who Mikey helped drag to safety during enemy fire, after Kauie was shot in the legs (this was about 4 months before Mikey died. He had a dream of this image of Mikey & got the tatoo in his honor. His family & friends are all so proud of him but miss him dearly. Just wanted you to have the facts straight.

"Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the malice and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. Amen."

Michael Monsoor is one of my heroes. What he did for his men, his selfless service, is just remarkable and I hope that I can be the type of man he was.

Biblically endorsed Saints need no canonisation process.

(Don't think this means you can pray to "St Balaam" or "St Bileam", he's not described as a saint!)
